Sri Saraswathi Vidhyaalaya Schoolhas a tremendous amount of activities available. From our perspective, a well-rounded education cannot simply be realized in the classroom. Rather, a complete education must include a variety of athletic and artistic experiences that occur outside the regular curriculum. We guarantee that these are fun and enjoyable. Participating in school activities is also helpful for your son/daughter to make friends outside of your class. If you are looking for something for your son/daughter to do outside of his/her regular classes, look no further!

Activities at SSVS are organized by age-appropriate groupings. There is certainly enough going on for everyone to get involved.

CO-ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

General Assembly:

The general assembly is a daily feature offering varied activities and serves as a stage for students, aspiring to compete at higher levels

Club Activites:

The School provides a variety of student clubs and activities to enhance their school experience. These activities offer students the opportunity to develop social relationships, organizational, time management and leadership skills. Each activity is advised by school staff member

Literature Club:

Literary Club at SSVS has taken the mantle of providing vent to students desiring to express themselves by way of elocution, debates, creative writing, and etc. while at the same time acquiring knowledge by way of frequent discourses and discussions. Organizing competitions in extempore, speeches, debates, symposia, quizzing etc. in the School has helped the Literary Club to live up to the expectations for which it was set up.

Science Club:

Science involves a pursuit of knowledge causing general truths as the operations of fundamental laws. Scientific knowledge is always partial to the world and progress of science follows the activity of humans to make phenomena perceivable. Through the club, it is possible to develop a positive attitude towards learning science. We have number of activities through our Science club.

Environmental Club:

“Genuine concern for the environment, pursuit of excellence and, commitment to the nation.”

Learning from nature and creating a pollution free earth is the intention of the nature club at SSVS.Students make charts on conservation, pollution and ecosystem to create awareness among children about various global problems. Students and Teachers are encouraged to use paper bags and other recyclable materials and ban the use of plastics. The children have worked in the garden and cleaned the area to give it a better look.The special attraction of the nature club at SSVS is a Medicinal Plant garden.On Environmental Day we also planted trees that reduce global warming. Even though we’ve done a lot,there are many things yet to be done to create awareness pertaining to our environment.Karkada fest is celebrated during the month of July.

Sports Club:

The more fit you are, the more you feel like tackling the world.

Sports Clubs are designed to increase physical activity levels in children through the development of a new type of sports club.

These sports clubs create an exciting and inspirational environment to engage these young people in school sport, particularly by focusing on Olympic and Paralympics sports and drawing on the inspiration of the Olympic Values.

Quiz Club:

“Knowledge is Power and it’s a fact that only the powerful rule the world.”

The Quiz Club intends to empower the students with knowledge and create interest and curiosity and to collect information related to different fields and aspects of life. It aims to bring to light something new and interesting every time.It tries to provide facts related to general knowledge and information regarding current affairs of national and international importance.

Computer Club:

  • This club will be an excellent chance for students
  • To learn how to work creatively
  • To troubleshoot computers and
  • To become experts in using various applications.
  • They will use these skills to help teachers and students.
  • Will make every effort to make this club a fun and rewarding experience for the kids.

Maths Club:

Maths Club activities at SSVS, provide an insight which will enable the students to tackle more significant challenges. Students work individually and in small groups to solve problems from various areas of mathematics. This encourages a collaborative way of working on mathematics where the sharing of ideas and results leads to deeper insights for all.

HOUSE SYSTEM

To bring out the hidden talents, to highlight the exuberant potentials, to create a healthy competition, to boost the better, to applaud the best and to celebrate the excellence, from I std onwards the students are divided into four houses.

Every month a best house is selected and awarded based on marks scored by the each house.
1.Slip test marks will be allotted based on the number of failures. If there are minimum number of failures or nil failures in particular house, that house will be awarded full marks – 40 marks. Slip test marks will be changed every week.

  • II Place – 35 marks
  • III Place – 30 marks
  • IV Place – 25 marks

2. Term test and Exam marks will also be allotted based on the number of failures. If there are minimum number of failures or nil failures in particular house, that house will be awarded full marks – 60 marks. Term test and Exam marks must be changed every Term.

  • II Place – 45 marks
  • III Place – 40 marks
  • IV Place – 35 marks

3. Teachers are asked to observe the student’s participation in classroom activity, their discipline, spoken English and allot marks based on their performances.

4. Home work marks can be allotted based on the minimum number of defaulters or nil defaulters. If there are minimum number of defaulters or nil defaulters in particular house, that house will be awarded full marks – 40 marks

Bharathanattiyam

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance from Tamilnadu. It is a blend of expressions, melody and rhythm. Bharatanatyam is the combination of three elements Nritta, Nritya and Natya. Nritta highlights body movements and rhythm. Nritya gives emphasis to dance postures and body movements. Natya gives importance to drama and poems. Done with complete concentration the dance form is as good as yoga.

Vedic Maths

SPORTS AND GAMES

Sports plays a vital role in the holistic development of the child. To favour holistic development of our Aristoans there are physical training classes. To add on the importance of a sound body to get sound mind and soul sports meet is conducted every year . Events are conducted in house order.

Athletics are an important part of the educational experience of our students. Research shows that children who participate in these activities are more successful academically than those who do not. Participation in our program gives students the chance to excel in ways which can make a huge difference in self-esteem. This is ensured by making games compulsory for all students. Professionally qualified Physical Education Teachers take care of the sports activities of the school. The school is divided into four houses and inter house activities are conducted regularly. Students who want to avail exemption on medical are given from taking part in sports activities. The Annual Sports is a regular feature and an important co-curricular activity of the school.

Practices are normally scheduled for Tuesdays through Fridays from 3:45PM to 5:15 PM, not more than three training sessions a week. However, coaches may arrange other practice times with their respective teams. Parents wish their child(ren) to participate in the Athletic Program will need to collect their child(ren) and provide transportation after the activity. Participants are expected to attend all games and practices.

Each season will culminate with the participation in the Zonal tournaments. SSVS will participate with both girls and boys teams, for all tournaments.

The general philosophy for SSVS athletics is

(i) To encourage all interested students to participate.

(ii) Students have the opportunity to participate in different sport options

(iii) Improve fundamental skills and gain a knowledge and appreciation for the sport

(iv) Improve fundamental skills and gain a knowledge and appreciation for the sport

(v) Develop good sportsmanship and leadership skills

Therefore, we encourage a no-cut policy. However, due to our involvement with and membership in the Team, we have tournament squads. The goal of the athletic program is to realize the value of participation without over-emphasizing the importance of winning. The purpose is to develop and improve character traits among the programs’ participants.
